The Long Shop
Inaugurated in 1984, The Long Shop museum aims to keep alive the industrial heritage of East Suffolk and the legacy of the Garretts family who carved out their wealth during the Industrial Revolution. From the manufacturing cathedral of the Long Shop to the stories and achievements of the people whose skill and ingenuity turned a small market town into a Victorian engineering powerhouse, this film explores the energy and excitement Fraser and the team have to offer.

WAYNE BURNS
Wayne Burns has welcomed the people of Leiston and beyond as the manager of the Leiston Film Theatre for over three decades.
Wayne can also regularly be heard entertaining the people of Suffolk on one of his many radio shows and in what little spare time he does have can also be found helping the youngsters of Leiston safely make their way to school as their local lollypop man.
With a past steeped in entertainment, Wayne Burns truly is Leiston’s greatest showman…
Sizewell sea swimmers
The Sizewell Sea Swimmers are a friendly sea-swimming group who brave the freezing waters of the North Sea to find comfort through community.
Started by Jessica McKenna, the group strives to tackle issues such as loneliness, bereavement and mental health challenges.
RUBY SPALL
Ruby’s fascination with engineering began in her mum’s shed where she would spend many evenings tinkering with damaged electrical appliances, which her mum would bring home from work.
Ruby is currently embarking upon an exciting apprenticeship with Sizewell C which will provide her with a promising and bright future.

NOEL CATTERMOLE
Noel Cattermole is the last full-time in-shore fisherman in Sizewell and has been fishing the same spot since leaving school at the age of seventeen.
Selling out of a small hut, Noel sells lobsters, plaice, sole or whatever else the catch of the day may be.
WildEast
WildEast are a likeminded group of friends committed towards changing our relationship with nature. Their initial intention is to restore 20% of their region back to nature for the benefit of communities, our health and state of the planet.

Daniel Mayhew
Daniel Mayhew has dedicated his entire life to education and has recently taken on a new role which bridges the gap between Leiston’s Alde Valley Academy and Sizewell.
It’s his passion to help deliver prosperity and opportunities for both the school and his local community.

Andreas Johnson
Those with Down’s Syndrome are often more likely to struggle finding work than those without. In 2024, Sizewell provided Andreas Johnson with his first ever job at their visitors centre and he has since been thriving.
In addition Sizewell has been working closely with Project 21, a Suffolk based charity aimed at empowering the lives of those who have downs syndrome through activities, employment opportunities and inclusivity.
